We couldn’t be more excited to binge watch ITV’s latest drama The Secret Service which dropped today on ITV X.
Based on the tense and topical novel by Claudia’s husband and ITV News presenter Tom Bradby, The Secret Service follows senior MI6 officer Kate Henderson (award-winning actress Gemma Arterton). On the surface Kate’s life appears ordinary, yet behind the facade, she heads the Russia Desk at the Secret Intelligence Service.
Most of the show was filmed in beautiful Malta and Claudia was thrilled to be involved with this exciting project as Tom’s writing partner and also join forces with costume designer Rachel Walsh to offer many key jewellery pieces. This helped the strong female leads with characterisation through jewellery workwear.
As Claudia says:
“I love fiction, and as someone with a great curiosity about human nature, I in particular love strong fictional characters. Since we discussed the plot of his first novel, Shadow Dancer (also made into a film, directed by James Marsh) on honeymoon, I have worked with my husband Tom to help create, and develop characters. There are many strong female characters in the ITV adaptation of The Secret Service, all working in busy challenging work environments. So meeting Rachel Walsh, who was in charge of bringing them to life on screen, was awe inspiring.”

So, what did Rachel choose to accesorise these characters?
For Kate, and in liaison with Gemma, a Vintage Pearl Drop Necklace was chosen– it really resonates with Kate’s background of having spent formative time in Russia before starting work, and shows her loyalty of character.
For the character of Imogen, the foreign secretary in the UK cabinet, Rachel dressed Amaka Okafor in our Biography Silver Pearl Hoops and our Meditative Pearl Touchstone Necklace. The strong geometric shapes of these designs give a crispness to her professional look and the Meditative Pearl Necklace would help anyone stay sane during intense work meetings, as well as personal moments featured in the show (no spoilers!).

Alex Kingston plays the character Rose Trewen, Head of Security at the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS). Her character is responsible for overseeing intelligence security and ensuring that lead character Kate Henderson (Gemma Arterton) does not put herself, or the country, in danger.
Throughout the series, Rose (Alex) wears our Coco Pearl Power Necklace, again a design which is fully adjustable and features a lustrous baroque pearl drop that runs freely along the chain. She dresses it outside her shirt on occasion, as well as wearing it long with an open neck shirt. It really adapts well to her character who is steady, supportive, and herself having to hold firm in a brutal and fast moving work environment.
As the cool wife of Mark Stanley’s character Ryan Walker (foreign secretary), Amanda, (played by Lydia Leonard), wears our Coco Epee Pearl Drop Earrings. Her character appears icy cold, but beneath the surface it is revealed that much deeper emotions are at play.
Amanda’s (Lydia) wardrobe requires her to move from working in a charity, to being an auctioneer and also the wife of a cabinet politician. This is soft power dressing at it’s best.
The ‘epee’ in the Coco Epee drop's name is French for sword; the ‘blade’ that the baroque pearls hang from is shaped like a fencing sword with a slight raise in it. The baroque pearls are hand selected to match and offer wonderful lustre to the face.
